History of the Dudgeon-Monroe Neighborhood

Our neighborhood has a rich history, which can be traced back to Native Americans in the Late Woodland period over a thousand years ago. Once the neighborhood was developed starting in the late 19th century, change was rapid.

A website “App” has been developed to highlight points of historical interest in a map and list format. Open the website below, or by scanning the QR code with your device’s camera. If you find anything you would like to add or correct, please contact the History chair at history@dmna.org.

DMNA History Map app interface with markers showing historical sites around a water body and streets. A highlighted site mentions the Knickerbocker Company Ice House from 1895 in Chicago.
