Social Justice Committee

ABOUT THE SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE

The Social Justice Committee of DMNA is YOUR forum for addressing issues of social justice affecting our neighborhood. The Committee meets quarterly from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. on the last Wednesday of January, April, July, and October, or as needed for special concerns. We meet by zoom so please contact one of the co-chairs to express your interest and receive a zoom invitation. Everyone is invited to join any meeting. The work we do and the good we can contribute to our neighborhood and our world is limited only by the imagination of those who attend. The SJC was established in 2016 to create a platform for anyone concerned about social justice issues to work together with like minded neighbors. We are currently working on issues of homelessness, particularly homeless children attending our neighborhood schools; on racism and educational equity; on recycling and making Monroe street a plastic-free corridor; on socially responsible disaster planning; and on educating ourselves and our community about other issues. Please come to our meeting to lend your hand to our efforts or ask for help on an issue about which you are concerned. If you want to be involved, please contact co-chairs Dave Leeper or Lissa Koop.

We hope to see you at an upcoming meeting!
